FAQ

HOW TO BURN YOUR CANDLES AND TARTS

It’s very important that you trim your wick to 1/4 inch before EVERY use. Place candles away from drafts, vents or air currents.

Extinguish the candle if:

  • Wick becomes too long
  • Air current disrupts the flame’s teardrop shape
  • Flame continually flickers or smokes

Allow the candle to cool, trim the wick, make sure the area is draft free, then relight.

How long should I burn a candle?

Always extinguish the candle if the flame gets too close to the edge of the container. Discontinue burning your candle when 1/2″ of candle wax remains.

WHAT KIND OF WAX AND WICKS DO WE USE IN OUR CANDLES?

The most commonly used candle wax is paraffin. Beeswax, soy wax, palm wax, gels and synthetic waxes are also frequently used in candles. Different blends of these waxes are popular with many manufacturers.

Black Label Candles uses paraffin wax. We use LX wicks and phthalate free scents.

ARE CERTAIN TYPES OF CANDLE WAXES BETTER THAN OTHERS?

No. All types of quality candle waxes have been shown to burn cleanly, safely and in the same manner. U.S. Candle manufactures select waxes or blends of waxes based on their suitability for special types or candle formulation profiles, as well as their own candle making preferences.

HOW TO STORE YOUR CANDLES

If you need to store your candles be sure it is in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or intense light. Keeping your candle in a dark place will protect it from fading and discoloration.

If we ship you candles make sure they are delivered on a porch out of the hot sun or extreme cold. Make sure candles are not left in a hot car, for an extended period of time, as they may discolor or melt. After long exposure to extreme cold candles should be allowed to return to room temperature for a minimum of 4 hours before burning to minimize potential damage.

CAN I SEND A CANDLE AS A GIFT?

Yes! Candles make wonderful gifts. We offer a variety of gift sets. Gift wrapping is available for an additional fee.
